Relative Strength Index (RSI)
What is RSI?
RSI is a technical indicator used by traders to measure the relative strength of a security. It is calculated by taking the average of the closing prices over a given period of time and dividing it by the standard deviation of the same prices. The RSI is then plotted on a chart, and can be used to identify overbought and oversold conditions.
RSI is a technical indicator used in algorithmic trading to measure the relative strength of a security or market index. RSI is calculated by taking the average of the closing prices over a given time period (usually 14 days) and dividing it by the average of the closing prices over the preceding time period (usually 14 days). The result is expressed as a percentag. An RSI reading above 70 indicates that a security or market is overbought, while an RSI reading below 30 indicates that a security or market is oversold. RSI can be used as a standalone indicator or in conjunction with other indicators to generate trading signals.
RSI is also used to measure the strength of a trend. When the RSI reaches 70, it is often considered to be the point at which a security or market is overbought and a reversal may be imminent. When the RSI reaches 30, it is often considered to be the point at which a security or market is oversold and a reversal may be imminent.
